12 team 9 cat h2h

I went into my first auction draft with the strat to go too heavy, then outsmart my league filling out the rest of my team with value players. I’m questioning that now seeing how the draft went. After my top 3 players, I ran out of money and had to wait a long time before I could get back into the bidding action.

im going to have to kill it in free agency and waivers to plug the weaknesses in my team. I might have the top trio of players in my league, but the back 75% got me nervous. But I got you guys to help me fix this during the season.

What do you think?

Your assessment of your team seems about right.  You do have a chance at a top three finish, but  things must break right for you.  You need to work the waiver wire to pick up a few stats you will be lacking in.  It looks like you did OK with "what was left" of your budget after your first three picks.

I have seen every strategy win these leagues.  Your top three players are excellent and you need to find a diamond or two in the rough, or a few players taking advantage of opportunity, or hot streaks.

I also wonder how many games played your settings call for with each position.  I see Yahoo's standard setting is 82 games per position (unless the commissioner changed it).  That can really change strategy from a 72 games played per position setting.  Streaming in ROTO could be a larger factor than in past years if games played are left so much higher than normal.

Good luck!

I had my two 9-Cat ROTO Auction drafts today and I did the opposite of your strategy.  I went with a good haul of second and third rounders at pretty good prices.  After loading up with these good players I waited with the rest of my budget and got a lot of good value players later in the draft when everyone else was left with less cash than me.
