i know everyone think we should stay away from kawhi but im getting intriguing offers. the owners of kawhi in my both leagues which are h2h playoff leagues have sent me kawhi for my middleton (yes i have middleton in both my leagues). i already guaranteed a playoff spot in both leagues so do you guys think i should go with it?
Dude, delusional Kawhi owners seem to be universal right now. I just had a guy offer me Kawhi/Turner for Wall. I just filed it under W for WTF.
In no way should you move Kawhi for a productive player like Middleton. Last week, I thought Ellington for Kawhi was fair. Now, I think that was too much...lol.
Very much disagree with B on this. He's a top 10 player when healthy. If he plays 15-20 games this season he'll produce more value than a mid-rounder playing every game, and obviously you can also use fill-in players. I would absolutely have taken Kawhi & Turner for Wall all day long.
Agree Middleton is too much to give, but I'd probably trade anyone outside the top 50 for him.
No disrespect, Magones (cool name, btw), but I think the key thing you said was "When healthy". Not only is he not healthy, but the Spurs have given us all of no clue as to when he will be. Spurs are even finding a way to win without him (more or less), so there's no reason to rush him back.
I fully acknowledge that he's a 1st round guy, but is he worth possibly losing weeks in a competitve league in hopes of getting him for the playoffs, where Pop may limit his games or minutes? I'm still trying to get him in a couple of leagues, but I wont let a Kawhi deal stop me from possibly getting a bye week.
No you're right I do think the 'when healthy' is looking increasingly precarious. I think I'm higher on Turner and lower on Wall than most, is why I'd have taken that deal. Almost creates a free call option on Kawhi's health (assuming you had a scrub to drop and could IR Kawhi). The risk/reward definitely changes a lot based on roto versus head-to-head, and I was thinking about the former. I have him in 1 roto and 1 h2h and I'm trying to figure out whether to try and trade him for a mid-round guy in either.
I am torn because my gut feel is that they shut him down (that injury can need surgery if extended rest doesn't cure it), but my normal inclination (as a high risk tolerance person) would be to try and trade for him at this point where everyone's giving up on him. Tried a few buy lows in leagues where I don't have him - no dice. And have offered him for some top 40 players in one of the leagues I have him - no dice either. Those with him are generally doing badly so they need a miracle (him returning soon and being awesome rest of the season), so they're not interested in trading him away. And of those without him, few have the risk appetite to take a punt on him. It's a tricky one!
Long story short, I think his current market value is of a mid-rounder circa 50-70th.
Middleton is way too much to give
I would give a RHJ, Payton, someone like these guys for a Spurs star without a time for return
In h2h I'm not touching Kawhi.
In roto I'd give up anyone outside the top 45/50 for him.
People. Let's be real. This is not the season to own Kawhi. Middleton is too much to give up at this point. He's experienced setback after setback. The time to bargain-hunt for him is next season after he's had ample time to recover and people still have the jitters. THEN you can get him at a bargain somewhere in the second round. You're a lock to make the playoffs. Why fix if it ain't broke?
