12 team, 9 cat, h2h playoff

So, this trade that I recently completed just got vetoed by league vote:

Kyrie Irving

for

Khris Middleton + Bogdan Bogdanovic

I'm the side receiving KM + BB, and would have been dropping Mitchell Robinson to make room. The only thing I can fathom is that my league mates are simultaneously overrating Kyrie and underrating Middleton. By a LOT. (Or maybe they buy that those two are close in value but are seriously overrating Bogdan, I don't know, but I suspect it's the former.)

I thought it was worth giving up the slightly more valuable player in Kyrie (and mainly from an edge in assists, a category I'm close to punting anyway) for the added depth of getting a solid depth piece in Bogdan with a 4-4-4 playoff schedule. Especially since the player I'm dropping from the end of my roster (Robinson) is a luxury stash whose only strong category (blocks) is one I'm already very strong in anyway (I have Whiteside, Capela, Harrell, and Carter).

The team trading for Kyrie, meanwhile, can now activate Rudy Gay off his IR. Just a totally reasonable deal all around.

Anyway, I'm baffled. I'm sure HB readers have opinions about which side they'd rather have, but I imagine you can all agree that this was an absurd veto.

That’s pretty bad. Vetoes should be only for collusion or extremely lopsided trades, which this isn’t at all. I think that’s actually pretty fair

It's probably a league that does not understand fantasy basketball, huh? They just see Kyrie as the ultra all star, god of handles, while Middleton and Bogdanovic are just regular scrubs. It's sad, but you should probably profit on these. Get these guys with huge names and trade. They probably think you are stupid if you offer Wade and Melo for Richardson and Ingles.

Maybe try and redo the trade with MitchRob included (then he can drop him after the trade)?

This year I have seen this happen in multiple leagues... and it usually never happens unless its a really awful trade. I’d be curious to get stats from Yahoo to see if there is a real uptick.

I agree you should try again, and post in the league’s forum explaining the trade.

I think you're right. I should view this as a blessing disguise, in that my leaguemates essentially just told me that they're very willing to overpay for Kyrie. So I should take advantage of that and shop him around.

It's also further confirmation that Middleton is one of the most underrated players in fantasy, and that I should probably be trying to trade for him everywhere I don't have him.

Time to get into a league with commissioner approval, not some dumbcrap league vote.
