Hello,

I have the 1st overall pick in my league and I'm still undecided on who should I pick. Draft is this Friday. Here are some stats on my league:

12 team
11 CAT (Standard Yahoo 9 plus Free Throws Made and Fouls)
2 Centers (PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, U, U, B, B, B, IL)

3 players I'm considering:
KD - Good building block
KAT - 2 center league
Harden - FTMs is a CAT in my league and can build around Harden and punt accordingly

Who would you pick?

Additional question: What is the latest Isaiah Thomas should be picked in my league considering we can stash him on IL

Fouls?? That's interesting!

Well I can tell you adjusting for those categories, the top 3 last year would have been Harden (1), Westy (2) and AD (3).

Jimmy Butler gets a nice boost, as does Kawhi.

Towns committed a number of PFs, so he takes a hit.

I like Harden at Number 1 in this format. Can't get fouls if you don't play defense...

Also worth noting, the NBA has said they are gonna start cracking down on guys who initiate contact in order to get free throws, but I still think Harden will lead the league in Free Throws again.

I would personally choose KD, as you just can't go wrong with him. The only unknown is his total games played.. but other than that, he has pretty much no weaknesses, even with adding the two unique meowy cats.

Man, that Isaiah question.. It's tough, because I've personally already decided not to draft him in any format. However, I'd like to ask -- Is your league H2H, and how many playoff spots are there? If it's H2H and there's 6 playoff seeds, IT might be a really good investment for your playoff run.

If I felt super confident about my early to mid round picks, and I liked my team comp, and I didn't choose too many risky players like Embiid and/or choose to punt cats, I might pick him up around 55, if he's still available (<--that's a lot of caveats lol).

But I'm gonna guess he's likely gonna be picked up earlier than that, especially with IL/IR slots available. Since you're #1 pick, you'll be getting #1, #24, #25, #48, #49 for your first 5 round picks, with your 6th round pick being #72. If he's still there during your #48/#49 pick, and you're feeling confident about your previous picks, I'd pull the trigger on him there. If you choose not to, and somehow he makes it to your #72 pick, I'd pick him up in a heartbeat.

if you get him at your 4th/5th round pick, It'll likely hurt you a bit in pursuing a playoff berth during the year, but if you can even make it as the last seed, and Isaiah can implement himself into the Cavs before April, then I think you'll be very strong during the playoffs with a potential 1st/2nd rounder player in Isaiah Thomas. Just be warned that there's a lot of 'ifs' and 'maybes' about this. Also, you're probably gonna have to hustle and go waiver wire diving quite a bit from October to February-ish.

I would go KD. You know exactly what you are getting. It remains to be seen what effect Chris Paul has on Harden's stat lines. Plus I could see them resting Harden more this year so he is fresh for the playoffs. He ran out of gas in the playoffs last year due to his insane regular season usage. If you go with KD then you wouldn't have to punt any categories either.

I'd go with KD for the #1 pick as you wouldn't have to punt TOs. A little bonus is that he fouls less than Harden too, but if you have Harden you're pretty much a lock for FTs. If I were you I'd try to get IT with your 48/49th pick if you can just stash him on the IR. He has insane value in FTM made leagues and with KD your FT% would be amazing due to the volume and efficiency.

However, if you draft IT you'll have to play it safe throughout the rest of the draft because if any of your other players gets hurt for an extended amount of time it could put you in a deep hole.

Thanks for all the replies! My league is a H2H, 8 seed playoff format so I'm definitely stashing IT3 as long as I can reach him by 48/49.

Last year, 1st place built around Westbrook and 2nd place had Harden so you can see my dilemma.
