Hi all!

Great mock... I don't remember a mock draft where I got sniped so badly and so frequently.
I went Drummond-George close to the turn (I picked 11th), and wanted to get a PG (Conley) on the 3rd or 4th round, but got the first snipe, so my entire draft went off-rails at that point. Still, I'm quite happy with my picks, as I went on a PG-rush with Dejounte, Brogdon and Sato, and also took Ingles to cover up some ground in assists.

I think most picks were on the spot and I can't argue with almost none. Surprised to see Milsap slide that far to the very last rounds. Love also slid too far.

I really liked Bucketts' team. He's got about 5 categories locked down as early as round five. Good drafting!

My team was:
Drummond 11
George 14
Tobias 35
DeRozan 38
Favors 59
Brogdon 62
Joe Ingles 83
Dejounte Murray 86
Satoransky 107
Will Barton 110
Cody Zeller 131
P.J. Tucker 134
Luke Kennard 155

Hi guys,

Here are the player averages Per 36 minutes '18-19 stats. I didn't present it on a team total level as the rooks and those who were injured last year have no data.

Jbag, great job, but per-36 is not the best measure

yessir. I agree that is not. But since it is still the offseason and there are many uncertainties (playing time, rotations, 2019-2020 usage%, etc), the per 36 offers a reference point, imho.

Gang,

Apologies for the delay - I've been in the process of moving and just got in my new place: Currently living on an air mattress and camping chairs, however, let's get into it. Here are my thoughts on our draft. First off, thanks everyone for participating and for also making your picks fairly quickly for the most part.

Now, don't take my evaluations as right or wrong, I'm human just like the rest of us, this'll just be my personal opinion.

1st Round: Nothing too crazy, the top 5 are pretty much the top 5 we're seeing across the industry right now, with some variance, but it's pretty much always those top 5 in some order. The only pick in the first round that I wouldn't do myself is Kawhi Leonard. I think he'll have plenty of load management, as we saw last season, and I think the Clips will finish in the top 4 of the West pretty comfortable, leaving more cushion for them to sit KW and PG.

2nd Round Takeways: I like a lot of these picks. In my own opinion, I don't think I can take Zion this early or Khris. I love Mitch Rob, but with all the bigs in NY and his tendency to fowl out, I don't think he's worth a 2nd round pick for possible averages of 10/8 and 2.5 blocks. I think we can wait until later rounds to grab someone like Clint Capela who seems to be being faded pretty hard.

3rd Round: Westbrook falling this far was the biggest surprise to me. Sure he's a "3-cat killer" in percentages and turnovers, but the potential triple-double average in H2H is hard to turn around. Great value for him right here in my opinion. Also, I love Bam's outlook this year and would like to have him on every team like the rest of you, but if he's going in the 3rd round, I don't think he'll end up on many of my teams. If I could get him in the 5th round, awesome, but it doesn't seem like it'll be happening. Also, even though his default ranks are pretty high, I think taking Luka this high is a stretch. By a lot of rankings, he barely finished inside the top 100, as he suffers from the same defects as Westbrook.

4th Round: I think this round was pretty standard for the most part. Maybe a bit high for Jamal Murray and Bledsoe, but other than that, pretty solid.

5th Round: Not a whole lot stands out here. I felt great about getting Cousins this late, given his finish last year, but now that he's out for the majority of the season, clearly he's undraftable. I wish Thomas Bryant was going later, but unfortunately he won't be. So if you want him, you probably have to take him around here. I think WCJ will fall later than this in most drafts.

6th Round: Of all the rookies apart from Zion, Ja is the most intriguing, and I've been seeing him go as high as the 4th round in a lot of mocks. If you can get him in the 6th, I think that's a good grab. Malcolm Brogdan...I know he's got the solid percentages, but Oladipo back a month or so into the season, I'm not taking him this high. Gordan Hayward is a strong potential bounce-back candidate, but I would hope he'd be available a bit lower. JI is a hoop-ball favorite for those defensive stats. Jonas = love him around this point. Whiteside I also like, but I think this is too high to take him in H2H considering his lowest value will probably be when you need him the most in fantasy playoffs (with Nurk's return and possibly Zach Collins building steam). Lauri and Love are also great values at this range, and I don't think they'll usually fall this far.

7th Round: The standouts here for me are Rubio, Ball, Ingles and Sabonis. It's too soon for Rubio for me, and I think you can get him a couple rounds later. Ball has a good statset, but with all the guards in N.O., it leads to uncertainty, and I wouldn't take him until a couple rounds later. Ingles is well-rounded, but a lot of reports have him coming off the bench, and if that's the case, his value takes at least a small hit. As for Sabonis, he's energetic and can get you a double-double on good FG&, but that's about it, making him more of a late-round pick for me.

8th Round: I love Kelly Oubre and Delon Wright. Dejounte and Derrick White create a time-share and cancel each other out in my opinion. Saric isn't my kind of player. Dedmon is solid, but I think you can get him later. Jarrett Allen is a strong pick because if you miss out on blocks early, he's one of your safest blocks picks in the later rounds. Also, with D.J.'s age, I think Allen gets the lion's share of that timeshare.

9th Round: Jeff Teague is a solid pick here I think, as he can average 8 assists/gm, which is hard to find this late in drafts. I don't think I'd touch Sweet Lou until the later rounds, as I think he'll take a pretty decent hit in usage. Patrick Beverly doesn't score, but all of us Hoop-ball guys love him. Because of the lack of scoring, I think you can get him a round or two later than this. Zach Collins is on most people's sleeper list, but I think you can get him in the last couple rounds, unless your leagues is highly competitive.

10th Round: Kuzma should get a bump with DeMarcus gone, but he doesn't contribute much outside of scoring. Will Barton is a highly-touted bounce-back fella, but given his ADP, you can probably grab him a round or two later. Klay Thompson...I don't think I can draft someone who may not play until the fantasy playoffs begin, especially when he'll be brought along slowly. If you have multiple I.R. spots, maybe, but I'm avoiding players who will miss the majority of the season. Bazemore should have decent low-end value, but not many people are looking at him, so you can probably take him in the last round pretty easily. I don't think Alex Caruso will be a standard-league guy...unless he gets traded or the Lakers have some serious injuries.

11th Round: I kind of like the Batum pick...he could be in for a bounce-back year. As for Brandon Clare...I wish he wasn't going this high - he'd be a great last-round-flier type of guy, but he raised his value with Summer League. Darius Garland is one of my late-round targets, as it seems this should be a good value for him. Isaiah Thomas...not a lot of analysts are touting him, but I think he's got a good chance to start, and he's talked about how he's got a chip on his shoulder and can't wait to prove people wrong about him. He's definitely someone I'm gunning for in the last couple rounds.

12th Round: I took Milsap here, and even though he's aging and they brought in Jerami Grant, even if Milsap's workload falls to somewhere in the mid 20-min/gm realm, I think this is great ROI for him. Osman...kind of a popcorn guy, but I think he's one of the better late-round guys that no one's talking about. I would take him at this point all day. I don't think I'd be drafting Vince Carter or Jaylen Brown in standard leagues.

13th Round: This is (and the other late round picks) is where you want to be taking some shots in the dark and trying to hit gold. For that reason, I like the Looney, Hachimura, Hunter, and Culver picks. Ish Smith could be worth a flier, but I think Isaiah wins that battle. I also like Terrence Ross as a 3-point specialist - he helped me win a lot of leagues last year. I also think Alex Len is a sleeper pick and at this range, I think he's a great grab.

This is my initial take. I hope I haven't offended anyone, as I didn't even really look at who draft given players, moreso just at where players were going. After some further evaluation, I'll give my take on who I think some of the best overall teams are.

Thanks again, everyone, for participating and bettering all of us participants and Hoop-ball readers alike! This will help to keep all of us ahead of the curve and give us valuable insight prior to our real drafts kicking off!

Looking forward to any further evaluation of our draft any of you may have!
