• You asked for it and we listened, so now SportEthos will be catering to the player pickup needs of GMs who play in deep redraft leagues. Not everyone plays in standard 12-team leagues and there have been quite a few readers who have asked for more content catering to the needs of GMs who have to dredge up NBA players who float around with orbits in the top 200 (or better) value range.

As the resident editor who plays in the most number of deep leagues, I’m going to start a weekly article where I share a list of players who have either been added in one of my five 16-team leagues by others or myself, as well as players who I have my eye on as potential streaming material. All of these leagues are H2H leagues, so expect a lot of names to pop up here as players whom I will be cycling for their stream value.

For this first edition of the Deep League Dredge, I will do a team-by-team rundown and discuss some noteworthy players. For succeeding articles, I will follow up with a Pickups-style format.

    Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks don’t have any players worth adding right now, though A.J. Griffin was briefly viable a while back as a 3-point streamer. That said, he was only a top-230 value play over the last two weeks, so there’s not much meat on the bone there.

De’Andre Hunter has been underwhelming recently, clocking in as the 234th-best player in 9-cat over the last couple of weeks. He’s someone I’d consider buying low on right now. Caveat emptor, he might have a low ceiling, so be sure you don’t overpay.

    Brooklyn Nets

I’ve Seth Curry added and dropped, since his injury management has become an issue, especially in my leagues with no IL slots. He’s someone I consider as a hold in 16-teamers, especially while Kyrie Irving remains unable to play while in suspension limbo.

Yuta Watanabe is someone who can be considered for streaming purposes, but I’d like to see him picked up in 18-team leagues or deeper. The Nets are a mess. Edmond Sumner got a start recently and he’s also a streamer-level guy who can provide some deep-league value. He’s been inside of the top-140 over the last two weeks.

Cam Thomas has been up and down and it can be frustrating to time when he wakes up with his points and 3s kit, so don’t make him too high of a priority just yet.

    Boston Celtics

Derrick White may be rostered in 35% of Yahoo! leagues, but he’s been through a rough patch lately and might have been dropped in your league. So for the sake of being extensive in my coverage, I’m giving DW a quick mention.

From White, the value drop is pretty big. Sam Hauser looked good but just briefly. He’s too erratic to be trusted long-term at this point, so he should be looked at as a low-priority streaming target.

    Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets now have LaMelo Ball back in action and that pretty much spells the end of our whirlwind romance with Dennis Smith Jr., who coincidentally has not played since Melo’s return. Feel free to drop him.

Jalen McDaniels is probably rostered in all deep leagues by now, but in case he’s been cycled for streaming purposes, go and pick him up once he clears waivers, as he should steadily provide end-of-bench value moving forward.
