STUDS
1. Taysom Hill
Since Taysom Hill became a tight end in fantasy, it’s always been hard to recommend him as a playable option, considering his unorthodox usage. At this point, we can safely say that he is worth starting week to week as the risk is worth the reward, considering how poor the tight-end position has been this year. That is the common theme of this article regarding the tight end position every week. Go ahead and fire him up; honestly, there are worse options.
2. Brock Bowers
Speaking of tight ends, how about we give some love to the best one for fantasy managers this season: the rookie Brock Bowers. The skill set is undeniably there, and they are relying on him so much more than expected, considering how poor the receiving talent is in Las Vegas. Some may have wondered how Michael Mayer may affect him at this point, but that is not a worry at all. Bowers might be the only tight end who’s a clear set-it and forget-it every week.
3. Bo Nix
If Bo Nix is on your waiver wire, add him immediately and consider starting the rest of the season. We’ve been waiting for this, and it honestly has been steady growth, but Sean Payton and Bo Nix have finally found their way to success. It’s still early in the Rookie of the Year race, but don’t be surprised if Bo Nix makes a significant push, and this Broncos offense may actually be fun to watch the rest of the way.
Kicker Debrief Written By Brandon Furtado
Tryouts should be well underway this week. It seems as though the league is hitting a low point with their kicking game this season. The current field goal percentage this season across all kickers is 84.9%. That is the lowest total in four seasons and the only reason it was lower in 2020 was because of the understandable Covid-19 pandemic. So, in reality, the percentage is the lowest since 2019. The current extra point percentage this season is 96.5%. That is the highest total since the extra point was moved back in 2015.
Taking a deeper dive into the numbers, the top 10 fantasy kickers from last year are a combined 5.4% worse on field goals made and 2.8% worse on extra points made compared to their totals this season. These 10 kickers are 1.5% worse on field goals made and 1.9% worse on extra points this season than the current league average. That may not seem like a lot, but for kickers that is a huge drop off. The numbers are very slightly off this year because Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker just went down with an injury, but the other kickers as a whole have been bad. Only one of last year’s top-10 fantasy kickers is having a better year in both categories this year. That man is Colts kicker Matt Gay. So, fantasy owners and fans are definitely struggling to trust their kickers this year, but these numbers are subject to change. As it stands, these are some of the biggest duds of the season and are certainly the biggest duds coming out of Week 11.
