Top Performers

Anthony Davis can call LeBron James the MVP all he wants, but the numbers in fantasy have him pinned as the No. 1 guy. There are few people in the league that can average 32.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.7 blocks and 1.7 3s on .547 shooting and be overlooked, but that comes with the territory of playing next to the King.

Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a beautiful pairing that is going to cause some serious damage in the playoffs. Even if they get ousted in the first round, they won’t go down without a fight.

Marquese Chriss has it figured out? Well, for now. Chriss is always a fantasy superstar in the later months of the year on a team that has no winning aspirations. Maybe the Warriors fix him, but for now he’s getting numbers and that’s what matters.

Stephen Curry made his return and he’s still inaccurate from deep, but the vision, handle and conditioning are all there. He should be capable of a top-30 finish with top-5 upside depending on how many minutes he gets.

The entire Suns squad did well this past week, spearheaded by Devin Booker’s hot streak and compounded with Aron Baynes’ return to the starting lineup. Baynes should slide back to irrelevancy when Deandre Ayton returns.

Gary Harris finds his way in the top-12 because of a blistering 3.3 steals per game. He’s still not hitting enough triples and the steals are unsustainable.

Lonzo Ball however, is someone that can finish out the year on a tear. The Pelicans are surging and it’s largely thanks to Ball’s improved play. He hit 5.3 3s per game last week which would be enough for owners, but his stat set adds even more shine. 2.0 steals, 0.8 blocks, 7.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists. Even when the shooting cools off (it will) the rest of the numbers are real.

Notable Disappointments

Damian Lillard is back in action, but as expected, is a bit rusty. He was on a top-10 tear prior to his injury so we’re going to give him a few games to get back on track.

A lot can change in a week and after some big wins, the Rockets have now lost four in a row and in terrible fashion. The Knicks, Hornets and Magic all stomped them out and it’s mostly due to a lack of energy on both sides of the ball. James Harden has looked atrocious by his standards for an extended stretch dating back to January and we’ve seen him slump like this before. Hopefully he breaks out of it soon because there’s not much time left for owners in the fantasy playoffs.

Jayson Tatum fell back to Earth, as he shot .400 from the floor, but the rest of the stats are still there so there’s no need to panic.

Paul George finally had a decent outing and the big scoring nights should come more often now that the Clippers are finally playing a string of games all together.

Last Week’s Value Watch

Mike Conley’s disaster season continues. I’m not sure if he ever claws his way back with a string of solid weeks and I’m thinking hard about dropping him for a streaming spot.

Conley lives to see another day. He’s in the top-60 over his past four games thanks to some hot shooting. I see him holding value, but as long as he does, Joe Ingles is pretty much an assist streamer at best.

James Johnson was outside of the top-120 last week, but he should be able to climb back up as long as Karl-Anthony Towns is out.

Top-70 value for JJ last week. Averaging 4.5 cash counters and somehow 5.3 dimes. He’s good.

Kelly Olynyk posted top-100 stats last week in only 16 minutes of action. Hopefully the playing time bumps up a bit as he’s got an amazing stat set.

11.7 minutes a night isn’t getting it done for Kelly O and he’s not worth adding with how much variance there is in playing time on a nightly basis.

Kendrick Nunn was hot last week and so was Caris LeVert, but I’m definitely buying into LeVert way more than Nunn. The Heat are too loaded on scoring wings.

Nunn was outside the top-200 last week as expected. There’s too much talent in Miami on the wings for him to be consistent. Caris LeVert had a dud, but also notched a triple-double. He hit the top-60 in value last week and that’s something I expected.

This Week’s Value Watch

Otto Porter Jr. is a guy that I’m holding onto in a few leagues, but the variance is going to be wild with him. He can fill up the stat sheet and is by far the best wing on the Bulls so if you’re feeling frisky, go grab him.

Thomas Bryant has been dropped in my leagues where I own him. He’s not getting playing time and the upside isn’t there.

The Kings really messed up the Richaun Holmes situation. He should be a top-40 play with upside beyond that, but the Kings are gonna Kings and I can’t hold him in playoffs leagues. However, if you’re still in the regular season, he’s a strong hold.

OG Anunoby is rolling and should not be available in nearly 30 percent of Yahoo! leagues. Fix that.
