• The slate tonight is filled with some big matchups and tough decisions across the board. The pitching options look like a minefield, with some huge names in challenging spots. You’re looking at guys like Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw, Tyler Glasnow, Shohei Ohtani and Luis Castillo, just to name a few of the giant stars on the mound. Kershaw and the Dodgers will be welcoming the Yankees in a marquee matchup between the two most popular teams in the league. Shohei Ohtani will take the mound in Houston, a place where he averages 12.1 K/9. Elsewhere, Bryce Harper and Trea Turner will return to Washington for the first time together.

This is for the 6/2 4:05 PM PST slate. As always, make sure to check lineups before first pitch.

    Writer’s record

    22-16-1

Colorado Rockies ML (+105) @ Kansas City Royals

The Rockies just put Kris Bryant on the IL, but he wasn’t contributing that much. Jordan Lyles is starting for the Royals and he’s got a record of 0-9 with a 7.30 ERA.

Arizona Diamondbacks ML (-105) vs. Atlanta Braves

Arizona is starting Merrill Kelly, who has been solid. He has a 2.83 ERA and has racked up six wins for the Dbacks. Charlie Morton starts for the Braves and he’s been very inconsistent. I’m going with the hot team at home who are technically dogs here as Atlanta sits at -115.

    DFS Pillar Plays

    Michael Wacha

    Position: P

    Salary: $7,400

This is a matchup play. With all the big dogs going on the mound tonight, Wacha is way down the list in terms of pricing. In five starts in May, the veteran righty gave up only three earned runs while only giving up one homer. The Padres are at home vs. the Cubs and Chicago has been ice cold lately. Over the last 15 days, the Cubs rank fourth worst in runs scored and have struck out seventh most among all clubs. Wacha got 18+ outs in all five May starts.

    Ketel Marte

    Position: 2B

    Salary: $5,000

The Diamondbacks are on a little bit of a roll again as they are now tied with the Dodgers for best record in the NL. Marte is on an 11-game hitting streak and has scored nine runs with six XBH over that stretch. The Dbacks welcome the Braves in a fun series with Atlanta throwing Charlie Morton out there to start the series off. In his last two starts, he’s given up a combined 14 hits and eight earned runs. Marte has scored double digit fantasy points in five straight games.

    J.D. Martinez

    Position: OF

    Salary: $4,900

Dodger fans will tell you just how impressive J.D. Martinez has been this year. The Dodgers lineup is not that deep and they’ve needed his production. In the last two weeks, Martinez has seven homers with 18 RBIs and a .367 batting average. Luis Severino takes the mound for the Yankees. They have some history from the veteran outfielder’s time with Boston. Martinez has a .400 batting average against Severino in 20 at-bats. J.D. has a hit in 15 straight games.

    DFS Value Plays (<$3100 Salary)

    Spencer Torkelson

    Position: 1B

    Salary: $2,600

The Tigers travel to the south side of Chicago to start a series with the White Sox. Mike Clevinger was just reinstated and will be starting for the White Sox. Clevinger is average on his best day. Torkelson is in the top 10th percentile in hard hit percentage and top 15th percentile in average exit velocity.

    Jose Siri

    Position: OF

    Salary: $3,100

Siri has shown some big power this year. He’s got 10 home runs and is sporting an .884 OPS. He averages the fifth highest FPPG among all Rays hitters, yet 10 Tampa hitters are priced higher than him. The Red Sox don’t know what they’re doing with their rotation and they will be starting Garrett Whitlock tonight in Fenway.
