• James Harden
    PG, Houston Rockets

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander believes that guarding James Harden does not allow a defender to solely zero in on his man, and therefore, an expanded focus from the entire squad will be required.

The Rockets and Thunder play Game 1 of the opening round of the NBA Playoffs on Tuesday, and Oklahoma City realizes its two biggest hopes rest in not only stifling the NBA’s scoring leader in Harden at 34.3 points per game, but knocking the NBA’s most prolific 3-point shooting team off its mark. Thunder defensive specialist Luguentz Dort, who helped contain Harden in the regular season, is out for at least the opener with a sprained knee, so SGA’s collective approach becomes more vital to the Thunder’s chances. Thunder coach Billy Donovan said the idea isn’t to limit the Rockets’ long-range attempts but to hinder them on nearly every heave and we can’t wait for this series to kick off.
