According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Lakers plan to engage Dion Waiters in exploratory talks in the near future.

With Darren Collinson withdrawing himself from consideration the Lakers are still hunting around for a playmaking guard to join the team. It is by no means apparent that Waiters is the solution to that hole in the roster, but apparently the Lakers have some interest in the unpredictable guard. To be clear, it is highly unlikely that Waiters would emerge with any standard league value on the Lakers. If the parties came to an agreement he could have some appeal as a points-specialist, but you would want to see that happen before making the pickup.
