Hey folks, was just thinking about my team and upcoming matchups and I wanted to discuss the topic of volume. For context, I'm 4th place in my 10t 9cat league and have dealt with my fair share of injuries in certain weeks. Looking ahead to week 10, I'm facing a diehard Lakers fan who has LeBron, AD, and Russ along with Luka. Normally, I wouldn't be worried at all since my team is normally cruising even without my first round player (thanks Lamelo). However, those players alone make up 16 games in week 10 whereas only 1 guy from my team plays 4 games for the week.
Considering that my IL spots are full and there's likely only 1 roster spot I can use for streaming, what would you guys do in these situations? Stream the hell out of that 1 spot in the hopes to miraculously squeak out a 5-4 victory or just accept the 3-6 loss?
Go ahead and stream the hell out of that one slot. Tough being down so many games.
When I'm behind by that many, I tend to focus on the areas I know I can lock down (TOs, %s) then focusing on the categories I've been winning in previous weeks. Maybe you can pull off a TOs, %s, steals 4-5 defeat and cut your losses.
I would be cautious with streaming too many roster spots. Don't want to get into a position where you end up using your 4th move on Thursday for a top 150 level guy just to fill games. Then you'd have to hold through Monday of the following week. Might not help enough this week, but sets you back for the coming week.
Stream as much as you can without having to part with ROS players you like. Losing 5-4 instead of losing 6-3 does have its merits as the season wears on. I always think of it like this: if you lose by 1 less game or win by 1 more game every week, that's like 15-20 games in the standings over the course of the year.
