@woe Well done! I think each player could end up in the top-100.

Strengths: AST, DD, PTS (*), STL

Weaknesses: FT, TO

Mid: BLK, FG, REB, 3PT

Players that are good at your strengths: Ball, Cunningham, Doncic, Fox, Garland

Players that are bad at your strengths: Allen, Clarke, Green, Sengun and Smith

Players that are good at your weaknesses: Green, Hayward, Vassell and Wagner

As with the previous team that had DD and TD in their league, I’ll make no effort to predict TD. However, there should be a strong correlation with DD, which I think you’re strong in. Some of the best candidates to get you those TD points are on your team, regardless.

This is a well-balanced team with several potential breakout candidates, so I think you could see some natural growth this season that should improve your chances in your swing categories.

FT is a category that is normally carried by guards, but two of your lead guards are actually going to hurt your chances in that category. The combined effect of Doncic and Fox’s below-average accuracy with the expectedly-lower percentages from your bigs will make you uncompetitive there, and I expect you’ll feel the impact of missed FT if your league penalizes you for that. You’re in a similar position with TO, since your team’s assist-to-turnover ratio is below 2-to-1. If your league gives you a penalty for TO, then your playmakers had better be working overtime to compensate.

I’m not going to recommend any roster changes because I think your long-term outlook is very strong. There could be some rough patches with your younger players, but I think the risk is worth the reward with them. If you find yourself looking to add a player, I think you should really target the 3-and-D archetype. You’re most likely to find STL and 3PT on the wire, but any player that has a lower usage rate and potential to produce in high-impact categories like BLK, STL and 3PT should also help you bring down that TO rate.

31. Kawhi Leonard
42. Jarrett Allen
55. Mikal Bridges
66. Franz Wagner
79. Al Horford
90. Herb Jones
103. Lauri Markkanen
114. Bobby Portis
127. Jalen Smith (indiana)

151. Gary Payton

Strong in both % and TO. I know I only have 1 PG. Hoping to trade once on the of SF/PF get hot early season for a buy low PG that helps in defensive stats and rebounding.

@bigcarot Turnover central! Some would say that doesn’t matter though.

Strengths: AST (*), FG% (*), REB (*), STL (*)

Weaknesses: FT% (*), PTS, TO (*), 3PT

Mid: BLK

Players that are good at your strengths: Adams, Barnes, Gobert, Green, Hart, Jokic, Murray, Plumlee and Wiggins

Players that are bad at your strengths: Conley, Ingram, Porter and Smart

Players that are good at your weaknesses: Conley and Wiggins

This is the first time I’ve ever been convinced that a team is going to crush four categories, so kudos for that. Unfortunately, I think you could be crushed in as many categories as a tradeoff. That’s going to make BLK very important for you, so thankfully you’re off to a good start with Gobert.

At minimum, you’re definitely looking at punting two categories: FT% and TO. If I’m being generous, I think it’s fair to say that you have five players in the average range: Conley, Gobert, Ingram, Jokic and Smart. You also have some of the worst shooters from the charity stripe: Adams, Green, Gobert, Plumlee, Porter and Wiggins. This squad is already fighting a losing battle before factoring in Barnes and Hart, who are below-average as well. Further, every single player on your roster will probably average 1.5 TO/G or more this season, and perhaps five players will double that:  Green, Ingram, Jokic, Murray and Porter. I wouldn’t trust anyone on your team for relief in that category.

Are there two starting center spots in your league? If not, I’d recommend that you consider moving on from Plumlee. While he is very comparable to Adams, who could also be considered, Plumlee is notably worse in REB. Gary Payton II, Matisse Thybulle and Robert Covington are all worthwhile substitutes that might have been overlooked on draft day. However, I should note that all of your bigs suit your strengths very well and Plumlee is no exception.

You could work your way up to average in PTS and 3PT, but it’s hard for me to see a way for you to do it with so many non-scoring, non-shooting players on this team. Most of your bigs aren’t threats from range, while you have perimeter players like Barnes, Hart, Ingram and Murray that were below average last year. I’m not sure if the sacrifices you’d inevitably make with your strong categories would be worth it to become more average.

This team seems primed for a bunch of 5-4 wins and 4-5 losses this season. I’m sorry to say that you probably won’t have a league-leading record this season, but technically all you need to do is make the playoffs. I am confident that this team can win its share of weeks and earn a berth. Once you’re there, all that matters is getting another 5-4 win. If you’re not against a shot-blocking team, I think you can make it work.

@jamesandrewdy Thanks for stopping by. I can help you settle on a punt!

Strengths: BLK, FG%, STL, TO, 3PT

Weaknesses: AST, REB (*)

Mid: FT%, PTS

Players that are good at your strengths: Davis, Finney-Smith, Hartenstein, Holiday, Irving, Johnson, Smith x2, Vassell and Williams

Players that are bad at your strengths: Anthony

Players that are good at your weaknesses: Anthony and Siakam

This team is somewhere between average and good in seven categories. What seems fairly clear to me is that you’re not going to be competitive in the other two while you maintain the majority of this roster. There are no AST or REB specialists on this team and the good ones are outnumbered by the bad. You want to punt? Look no further.

I didn’t see any categories as clear wins on any given week, but that’s not to say that your team won’t be competitive. In fact, I really like the options you’ve left yourself to be competitive throughout the season. Finding efficiency stats (FG%, FT%, TO) and high-impact stats (BLK, STL, 3PT) is usually easier than counting stats (AST, PTS, REB) on the wire, and your team is well-positioned to take advantage of that. I think you’re closer to being uncompetitive in PTS than competitive, so really focus on those less-glamorous categories with future moves.

For the record: I am more optimistic than most on Jabari Smith. I believe he’ll average more than 1.5 BPG right off the bat, so he helped your numbers in my projections. Do not confuse yourself for a heavyweight in that category unless you find another specialist or Davis is playing like Bill Russell.

If you’re looking for players to move on from, then I’d start with Anthony. You’re solid at all the positions, so there’s no imperative to go big or small if you choose to let Anthony go. He has value as a trade target, but he might be releasable just to relieve your team from his drawbacks in BLK, FG%, STL and TO. After all, he’s strong in what I believe to be your three weakest categories (AST, PTS, REB) while functioning as your third-string point guard. While far from a bad player, Anthony isn’t a clean fit everywhere. Arguably, this is true in fantasy and on-court, since he’s going to be hard-pressed to win the battle with Markelle Fultz and Jalen Suggs.

I believe you’ll do best in STL and 3PT this season, which insulates you really well against injuries. If you’re looking for low-cost trade targets or free agents to bolster your squad, then consider Matisse Thybulle and Robert Covington as primary targets. They are both extremely valuable to teams with your makeup. Failing that, look to players like Seth Curry, Malik Monk, Patrick Beverley, Royce O’Neale and the Martin twins.

@brandonmachado96 Ball, Curry and Vucevic are strong picks. Ingram is questionable. You're setting up well for a build that punts BLK. Focus on bigs with solid FT%. TO is high right now, but that's necessary to get those DD and TD points.

I'm not sure where you're at with draft picks at this point, so I'll skip a few rounds. I like Al Horford, Bobby Portis, D'Angelo Russell, Josh Giddey,  Julius Randle, Kyle Kuzma, Lauri Markkanen and Saddiq Bey as mid-round targets. Moving back in the draft, I'd look for players like Bogdan Bogdanovic, Bones Hyland, Brook Lopez, Cole Anthony, Dillon Brooks, Lu Dort, Josh Hart, Marcus Morris and Ricky Rubio.

Keep me posted. Good luck!

Hi guys,

16teams, h2h 9-cat. My draft started with a very strong punting strategy:

Gianis

Gobert

Zion

And after these 3 first picks, it seems obvious to punt FT & 3s, right? The rest of my teams is...

Rozier

Wagner

Kevin Porter

PJ Washington

Isaiah Jackson

Herb Jones

Jaden Mcdaniels

Hartenstein

& Fultz in IL slot.

What do you say about the fit with my punting strategy? Maybe i can trade for points & steals, because i'm already very solid in FG & Blocks.

Thankss mates!

@bryanfdez Thanks for that. Yeah I'm not that sold on Clarke and even Nurkic, but needed some big men at that point.

I have moved JJJ to IR spot so am able to pick someone up.
Some notable free agents include Caris LeVert, Will Barton, Mo Bamba, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Malik Beasley, Kevin Huerter, Kevin Love and Robert Covington

Went a bit early with a couple but fairly happy with my the players I have got.
My main concern is being too strong/weak in certain categories.
Some specific thoughts on potential trades / roster movements I should make would be appreciated.

Hey, would love some feedback. I think I pared my top picks well. I had some guys fall like Nurk 83 or JJJ at 110. I was at the 11 slot on 9 cat h-2-h.
