Hello, I am completely new to sports betting and want to know more about how to understand sports betting to be come more knowledgable to make good bets and take advantage of good line/odds.

I do not have much money to wager so I want to make smart bets with not much risk. Looking at starting with $20 on some popular sites (Draft Kings, Fan Duel are some that I've seen deals for new customers) What are the best ways to get started?

I've seen and heard everyone do great work here and I am excited to be a part of this community! Thanks for helping this newcomer!

Hey Kris,

I would say that starting with $20 MIGHT be a hair too low since then you have no room at all for a couple losses in a row (which will happen inevitably). I would suggest $50 at the absolute lowest starting bankroll, but $100 is safer, and then you can set a "unit" as some percentage of your overall bankroll. $5 bet or something along those lines.

I agree with Dan.
It also depends on the purpose of the betting: mere entertainment or potential earnings (which I would advise against considering). If you're interested in a combo, you could start with a hundred dollars using the "catch up method".
