Anthony Kates
I'm a husband, father and fantasy sports fanatic. I've been playing some fantasy sport or other since the fall of 1996, thanks to one of my childhood best friends, Brent. I enjoy watching all major sports, reading fantasy novels, watching TV shows and movies, playing video games and writing about fantasy baseball. I started at Sports Ethos in 2023, just writing one article a week and cutting my teeth in fantasy sports writing and I am now a co-lead of the Fantasy Baseball department, co-host of the Fantasy MLB Today podcast and the author of two weekly articles, our dynasty baseball rankings and a handful of random articles a year. I support the Houston Astros, Dallas Mavericks, Tennessee Titans and all things Texas Longhorns.
Anthony’s Fantasy Baseball Week in Review – September 17th
The week in review covers all the starts by the starting pitchers, what the bullpens did (saves, holds-wise), how did the offense perform (runs scored, walks, strikeouts) and who stood out with the bat, if anyone did. It’s guaranteed to be 3000 or more words and will cover pretty much every main fantasy statistic and impact players. And it comes at you every week.

Now is the time to ride the hot bat or the hot arm and ditch those underperforming players. Once you get this deep into the playoffs, anywhere you can find help, you’ll take it.
Let’s take a look at a few options that can help your team out today.

We are nearly to the end of the fantasy (and MLB) season, as we only have three Sundays left until the final day of the regular season. Including today, we have four regular season Friday’s left. I am going to use each of those Friday’s and this column to target a different group of risers and fallers, with an eye on their value in dynasty leagues going forward. Today we’ll go over middle infielders, next Friday corner infielders, the Friday after that catchers and outfielders and the final Friday will be pitchers, both starters and closers. We’ll go over the youngsters that have shot up the rankings and the veterans who can and will still impact each of the positions.

For most leagues, the playoffs start today. That means, for half or more of your league, in head to head leagues, at least, they will be ignoring the waiver wire from here on out. In dynasty leagues and roto leagues, though, you’ll still be competing with every manager until the final day of the season.

With only have five regular season Friday’s left on the calendar, that means we only have six risers and fallers columns left for the 2024 season. With trade deadlines behind us and the playoffs in front of us, we’re going to start to take a more dynasty focused look at players that are performing well or performing poorly. For re-draft leagues, these will still be impactful, just, like, five months from now, instead of five weeks from now (as soon as the MLB regular season is over, for example, in my dynasty league, we can begin to wheel and deal again).
