Here’s some Pick ‘Em plays our team is looking at for Thursday’s round one action!

Tournament Plays
Sam Burns UNDER 69.5 Strokes
I bet Sam Burns outright, so I am doubling down here. For someone as talented as Burns, an under-par opening day at this course shouldn’t be an issue. Burns ranks first in strokes gained putting on fast Bermuda greens (50 round sample), which we will see this week. Sam also has excellent form on comp courses to go along with a 13th at Sedgefield in his only appearance here (20th). Burns is certainly a boom or best candidate, but I think this is a good setup for him and we should see a good start for him come Thursday.
Webb Simpson OVER 65.5 Strokes
If you look at strictly course history, then this would be an easy under, however there is nothing else to support an argument for Webb right now. He has two top 25’s to his credit all season and is just not playing to the caliber of years past. Much like we have been doing with Justin Thomas lately, I am going to make Webb prove it that he has any form left in him this season.
Hideki Matsuyama OVER 3.5 Birdies
Hideki had a rather pedestrian weekend in Minnesota last week, but came out absolutely guns blazing on Thursday, firing a seven under 64. A lot of the things Hideki did last week should translate this week on this course (accurate off the tee, excellent iron play). I don’t know if his putter will cooperate enough to bring him to victory, but Matsuyama should give himself enough opportunities to go over this number on Thursday.
Matt Kuchar UNDER 0.5 Eagles
This one is almost as close to a free square as you can get and is priced accordingly (only 50 points), but free points are free points. There are only two par 5s at Sedgefield, each boasting an eagle rate of about 5%. There are a fair number of players who have an opportunity to take advantage of them in such a way, but Kuchar is not one of them. He may go on to birdie them each day of the tournament, but his length just isn’t there to threaten eagle on these holes. He also doesn’t have the length to really make it a sweat on the shorter par 4s as well.
