The Dallas Cowboys (5-2) and the Philadelphia Eagles (7-1) face off in their first divisional matchup of the season in Philadelphia. This game has massive playoff implications. If the Cowboys win, they will have the tiebreaker against the Eagles for the divisional lead and only be a half game behind the Eagles as they go into their bye week. If the Eagles win, they will increase their divisional and first-overall seed in the NFC leads.

    Main Storylines to Watch

Will Jalen Hurts mobility be a factor in this contest? Jalen Hurts was obviously hobbled in Week 8 against the Commanders. The Eagles reported it is just a bone bruise, but Hurts has been seen limping multiple times in the past few games. In Week 8, Hurts had half of his previous low for rushing carries and rushed for by far his lowest yardage number with only four yards. The rushing offense as a whole is more dangerous with Hurts being an option to run in the RPO and shotgun running game. It is not a surprise that the Eagles’ running game as a whole has looked less efficient with Hurts being banged up. Maybe Hurts sucks it up and gets back to running since the Eagles have an extra week of rest with their bye week coming, or maybe Hurts is just trying to survive until he can get the extra rest he needs to fully recover from this injury. It will be very telling to see how Hurts looks in the Eagles’ first offensive possession.

Can the Cowboys prove themselves against a top-tier NFC opponent? The Cowboys are widely considered a top-four team in the NFC with the Eagles, Lions, and 49ers. The only one of those teams that the Cowboys have faced so far in the 49ers absolutely smoked them. The Cowboys have a prime opportunity to put themselves back in the top of the NFC conversation if they can beat the Eagles at home. If they lose, the Cowboys will be two games behind the Eagles for the divisional lead. That could be the difference between the number one or number five seed in the playoffs for this season.
