For the first time since 2013, the Raiders will be without QB Derek Carr and instead look to former 49er and Patriot Jimmy Garoppolo to start the season strong on the road against a division rival. The Broncos are coming off a largely disappointing season in 2022 after trading for former Seahawks QB and Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson. New HC Sean Payton brings his system to Denver hoping to repair what was an anemic offense last season.

Main Storylines to Watch

Is Russ back on track? Will a new offensive philosophy be enough to revitalize the former star QB and make a push in a stellar division? The defense carried its own weight and then some many times a year ago, the Broncos may become a dark horse team if Payton’s new scheme, that led his Saints to a Super Bowl win with QB Drew Brees, can open things up for a QB of similar, small stature.

How will Jimmy G fare outside of SF? Kyle Shanahan’s offense is regardless as the least dependent on QB play of any in the league, but Garoppolo always seemed to be the best at running it. Without nearly as many weapons, but still one of the best pass catchers in the league in WR Davante Adams, can Jimmy get enough work to be fantasy relevant in his new Vegas home?
