• Welcome to Wednesday’s Daily Dish!  While everyone gears up for the official start of the playoffs next week, fantasy players are trying to make the most of the final seeding games.  Thankfully, the Orlando bubble has so far allowed players to entertain us safely, which is all I ever really wanted from the rest of the 2019-20 season.

    Adds of the Night

With only four games on the slate, here are two of the better performances of the night by low-ownership players.

Jeff Green, F, Houston Rockets – 30 minutes, 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, one block, 5-for-12 FG

Eric Gordon’s return may have kept him out of the starting lineup, but Green continued to make an impact on the scoresheet.  He has averaged 14.8 points in bubble games and this was the first during which he did not make a 3-pointer.  Moreover, Green received 30 minutes or more for the second consecutive game.  Green has only shot 2-for-12 from behind the arc over the past three games, but he made over 40 percent from distance against the Bucks, Lakers and Blazers.

Raul Neto, G, Philadelphia 76ers – 27 minutes, 17 points, one rebound, five assists, one steal, one block, two 3-pointers, 6-for-15 FG

With Ben Simmons likely out for the season and Alec Burks sidelined, Neto proved what he can do given the opportunity.  While he shot only 40 percent against the Raptors, Neto had scored 22 points the night before while converting 50 percent of his field goal attempts and going 3-for-7 from long range.  Neto didn’t put up big numbers over the course of the season, but he did score 27 points over his final two games in March before the NBA shutdown.

    Drop Zone

    Aaron Holiday

Holiday shot a woeful 1-for-11 from the field against the Rockets while adding two assists, a rebound and a steal.  He scored just two points overall despite getting the start.  While he hasn’t shot badly during the rest of the bubble games, Holiday has failed to score in double figures during his past four appearances.  Justin Holiday had far more success in this one en route to 18 points.

    Mason Plumlee

He probably wasn’t on many radars to begin with, but Plumlee had delivered double figure points in two of his three games coming into Wednesday’s encounter with the Clippers.  In this one, he ended with a paltry four points, three rebounds and three dimes during 19 minutes.  While Plumlee has held a bench role for virtually the entire season, this was a disappointing result for anyone who rolled the dice on him while on a budget in daily leagues.

    Injury Report

Joel Embiid played 14 minutes against the Raptors before leaving for the night with a right wrist injury, but X-rays were negative.

Kelly Olynyk (bruised right thumb) was able to play on Wednesday.

Steven Adams (left lower leg contusion) returned to action, scoring eight points in 20 minutes.

Nerlens Noel (right ankle sprain) played an unremarkable 18 minutes.

Glenn Robinson III (left hip pointer) missed the matchup with the Raptors.

OG Anunoby (sore right knee) was unable to suit up against the Sixers.

Serge Ibaka (right knee contusion) was held out of the lineup.

Kendrick Nunn missed Wednesday’s game due to a sore throat.

Victor Oladipo (sore left ankle) managed to play 37 minutes against the Rockets.

Myles Turner (sore neck) played 28 minutes while scoring 18 points.

Tobias Harris (right ankle soreness) was able to play a night after missing Tuesday’s contest.

Al Horford (left knee soreness) dished out five assists over 18 minutes of play.

Danuel House (left toe sprain) was unable to play.

Alec Burks (left foot soreness) missed Wednesday’s contest.

Luguentz Dort injured his right knee against the Heat and would not return.

Jerami Grant (sore right knee) returned to face the Clippers.

Fred VanVleet (right knee hyperextension) scored 10 points in 26 minutes.

Kyle Lowry (back) scored 19 points while helping the Raptors to victory.

    Terrific Tyler

The Thunder edged out the Heat by a score of 116-115, but nobody could blame Tyler Herro for the outcome.  Herro didn’t actually start the game but managed to accumulate 38 minutes anyway.  He ended with a season-high 30 points while leading all scorers.  Herro also shot 9-for-16, good for 56 percent from the field.  However, Herro had been even more efficient over his last two games in converting 63 percent from the floor.  Against the Thunder, he helped the cause by going a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe and 3-for-6 from downtown.  Herro also filled the stat sheet elsewhere by providing six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.  Mike Muscala would end up being the hero for OKC, but Herro continued to look great during his rookie campaign.

    DFS Bargain Bin

These players were all less than 10% owned when Yahoo suspended fantasy play, but on Wednesday they were solid daily league options for the price.

    Pacers: Edmond Sumner/Doug McDermott

Sumner averaged 13.9 minutes per contest during the season, but his 24 minutes were important in a 108-104 victory over the Rockets.  He contributed 17 bench points, while McDermott added 16 of his own.  That helped make up for an inefficient evening on the part of Victor Oladipo, who struggled to a 7-for-26 line from the field including 2-for-12 on 3-pointers.  Both Sumner and McDermott chipped in with four assists and a swat apiece.  Sumner went 2-for-3 from long range and pulled down four rebounds.  McDermott, a 43.5 percent 3-point shooter during the regular season, made all three triples he attempted.

    Sixers: Furkan Korkmaz/Mike Scott

Korkmaz ended up scoring 21 points over 29 minutes without making a two-point shot.  The native of Turkey finished 5-for-9 from behind the arc and 6-for-6 from the foul line.  351 of his 556 field goal attempts during 2019-20 have come from 3-point range.  Then again, nobody will complain much when you convert over 40 percent of the long ones.  Meanwhile, Scott took advantage of 22 bench minutes to pile up 12 points, five rebounds and two assists.  The forward made four of his five field goal attempts including two triples.  Scott might have been rewarded with more playing time if he wasn’t in danger of fouling out.
