Welcome everyone to another jam packed Wednesday, January 19th slate featuring a whopping 13 games to get everyone excited about. 

As many of you already know, I love to target games over 220 point totals. Tonight is another chalk filled card that has 8 games currently projected to go over that amount. I am going to pick players from each of these games in my player tiers as well as honorable mentions section. There is always late breaking news that can occur at any time, so please stay close to any breaking action as it comes closer to tip-off time. 

Player Tiers

Expensive Tier

Nikola Jokic ($12,400) – The highest priced player for tonight is also the reigning MVP. Jokic is going up against a very soft frontcourt attack of the Los Angeles Clippers. With so many players back from injury/Covid protocols there is ample opportunity to target this team in what should be a fairly close game. He always has triple-double upside every time he steps on the court, making him a solid high priced floor stud. 

Joel Embiid ($11,000) – Joel Embiid is playing at a historical level this season, and should continue to have his way with the likes of Mo Bamba down the paint tonight. Priced at only $11,000 Embiid has monster double-double potential, which should equate to a floor of 65 fantasy points. I expect the 76ers to feed the big man early and often. 

Kyrie Irving ($9,300)- Coming off his best game of the season, Kyrie Irving represents quite a bit in cost savings compaed to his running mate James Harden. I am taking those cost savings and running to the bank on a night without a ton of bottom dollar value. Irving is finally getting into the groove this season, and should continue to feed off Harden in a one-two punch against the Wizards on the road.  

Jimmy Butler ($9,100)- Now that Butler is back in the lineup, the Miami Heat should have a fairly easy time going up against the Blazers at home in this game. Butler is coming off a 51-point fantasy effort in the last game, and should take on more of the playmaking responsibilities again in this game. Butler may be overlooked when building lineups, making him a fantastic tournament play. 

Mid-Tier

Ja Morant ($8,900) – He is under $9K in this game due to a string of subpar performances in a row. Now is the best time to pounce on the budding superstar, as the Grizzlies take on the Milwaukee Bucks on the road. This game should be a high scoring affair, with more scoring being put on Morant’s shoulders with the news of Covid protocols hitting this team again. The one-two punch with JJJ should help propel Morant to 50 fantasy points tonight. 

LaMelo Ball ($8,700) – LaMelo Ball is in a prime spot going up against the Celtics to continue and drive his resurgent effort forward. A price tag that is highly palpable makes him a triple-double threat at a low owned price. The return from an illness may shy some people away from including him in lineups, but I am targeting him heavily here in a competitive game scenario.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($8,400) – Coming off a monster 52-point fantasy effort, SGA is back at it again looking to keep the game close and raise the Thunder to a road victory as they travel to take on the Spurs. In a battle of elite point guards I would much rather have him in my lineups and utilize the cost savings elsewhere vs. Dejounte Murray. 

Mike Conley ($6,000) – With no Donovan Mitchell in the lineup tonight, going up against the worst defensive team in the Western conference, this makes Conley a chalk lock for both cash and tournament games. With the expectation of strong usage, Conley should be ready to score 45 fantasy points tonight. 

Ayo Dosunmu ($5,800) – When it comes to this rookie class, it keeps getting better and better. With Zach LaVine going down with an injury, Dosunmu has been given all the minutes he can handle in the starting lineup. Over his last two games he hasn’t scored less than 42 fantasy points. Although Caruso being back in the mix may cut into some of his sky high playing time, there is still enough value to add him into your builds. 

Value

Kessler Edwards ($4,300) – Another beneficiary of the Kevin Durant injury, Edwards is a great candidate for extended minutes again tonight in a high scoring affair against the Wizards. Although he doesn’t provide a ton of fantasy upside, his minutes floor of 35 can essentially back him into a 25-point fantasy effort in this game.  

De’Andre Hunter ($4,200) – Since coming back from injury, ramp-up time has not been an issue for Hunter, coming off a string of 30-minute games. His price is still far too low, given his production including a near double-double last game. I love him tonight, as one of my favorite value plays on the card. 

Bones Hyland ($3,800) – Bones Hyland is an intriguing young rookie who does not shy away from scoring in recent games. He has finally been given heavy rotation minutes exceeding 30 over his last two games, and while we don’t know what the impact of Bryn Forbes will have on him in the future, Hyland is a great play under $4K as the Nuggets host the Clippers. 

Honorable Mentions: Luka Doncic ($10,800), Jaylen Brown ($8,600), Christian Wood ($8,200), Kyle Kuzma ($7,800), Luguentz Dort ($5,500), and Mo Bamba ($5,300)
