• It’s Wednesday and we’ve got a great eight game slate! We’ll be focusing on the main seven game slate, that consists of a Celtics @ Blazers matchup with the entire Celtics lineup questionable, a Heat @ Cavaliers game in which Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nikola Jovic and Kel’el Ware have already been ruled out, which will allow some throwback plays! The Jazz @ Wizards playing Capture the Flagg, a Timberwolves @ Hornets matchup in which the fun Jaylen Clark, Terrence Shannon Jr. and company experiment has ended with the return of Julius Randle, the injury riddled and struck by bad luck Mavericks @ Bucks, Kings @ Nuggets, which possesses the 2nd biggest O/U of the slate at 237.5 and an incredible matchup for the reigning MVP and finally the Thunder @ Grizzlies battle at the top of the West, that has an O/U of 250.5.

    Nikola Jokic

    Position: C

    Salary: $12,200

Nikola Jokic is questionable, and if he’s indeed ruled out De’Andre Jordan ($3,000) and Zeke Nnaji ($3,300), who is also questionable, become instantly appealing. But back to the reigning MVP. Nikola Jokic’s career high in points came earlier this season against the Wizards, in a game where Jonas Valanciunas played 32 minutes and held Jokic to 56 points and 90.5 fpts. But the fun is just getting started! Jokic has had nine games with 45+ points in his career, and two of them have come against Valanciunas. Besides his career high, he also posted 46 points, 12 boards and 11 asssist against the Pelicans and Valanciunas in 2022. In the past 10 games against the Lithuanian center (counting just the Wizards and Pelicans matchups, excluding any prior Raptors and Memphis games), Jokic is averaging 33.7 ppg, 13.6 rpg and 11.7 apg on 65/39/78 shooting splits! And how has Valanciunas fared as the Kings starting center over the last two games? Well, Alperen Sengun posted 30/10/5 against him and he played just 23 minutes against Dallas, who didn’t play a true big for most of the game – Dwight Powell played only 10 minutes and Kai Jones got plenty of opportunity in the frountcourt, scoring 21 points and grabbing eight boards in 33 minutes. We have a very small sample size from the Kings with Valanciunas at C, but if we take into account their past 15 games and that the defensive scheme with him instead of Domantas Sabonis has minor differences, we can also see that the Kings have allowed the 2nd best fg% to opposing Cs.
