In his last five games with Kawhi Leonard in the lineup and playing 35+ minutes, James Harden put up 43.75, 31, 57, 45.75 and 57.25 fpts. His two worst games came against the Lakers, who have the number one ranked defense in defensive rating over the past 10 games. His two best games came against Phoenix and Sacramento, who rank in the bottom half of the league over the same span, and the Pelicans rank 22nd. The starting point is a weaker Pelicans defense, but the good news don’t stop there! With Norman Powell still remaining out, Harden gets a slight bump in usage, as he has an increase in usage by 4.3% when Powell is out, compared to only a 2.5% increase when Kawhi is out. And the Pelicans are allowing the 3rd most assists, 3rd most boards and 3rd best fg% to opposing PGs over the last seven games! Over the past ten games, the Pelicans are also allowing the 2nd most 3pm and the most assists to opposing teams, fitting Harden’s strenghts like a glove!
