We’re a day early for Christmas Eve but the NBA has us already opening up some gifts! And they come in the form of a MASSIVE 14-game slate! Let’s unwrap a couple before diving into the Pillar Plays. We’re getting the battle of the bigs – Victor Wembanyama vs. Joel Embiid. What happened in the last matchup between those two stars? Well… Embiid scored 70 points and got 18 rebounds. Wembanyama’s past games have not lagged far behind, has he accumulated 92 points and 21 blocks over his past three games! The biggest O/U of the slate belongs to the Jazz @ Cavaliers, set at 232.5 points in what projects to be a game comfortable win for the Cavs – they’re favoured by 13.5. As always, the Bulls are not too far behind, as their O/U vs. the Bucks is set at 231. That matchup is one of the most interesting ones of the day, as the Bulls allow the most points, 2nd most rebounds, 4th most assists and 4th best fg% to opposing PFs. If Damian Lillard is out of the lineup, Giannis Antetokounmpo figures to be a usage monster with a terrific matchup! Let’s get right into it!

We’ve already discussed that Giannis Antetokounmpo has an amazing matchup and is playing in a game that boasts one of the biggest O/U of the slate. In two games against the Bulls this season, Giannis posted 38/11/5 and 41/9/8 stat lines, and that could really be his floor, as he is averaging 31.4 ppg, 11.8 rpg and 5.1 apg in 8 games in December, in which four of those came against top-8 defenses in the NBA – OKC, Magic, Celtics and the Cavs. Giannis has already had a 54 point game without Lillard in the lineup, and if that’s the case again today, the matchup-usage-O/U-hot streak stars seem to have aligned just before Christmas! And why does Giannis look disappointed in the article photo? It’s probably just at the people that will leave him out of their lineups.
