The NBA around festive time is a gift that keeps on giving and today we have a great 8-game slate! We have a couple of games that slot on the extremes of the O/U spectrum. Firstly, there are three games with a 212 O/U – Knicks @ Magic, Timberwolves @ Rockets and Warriors @ Clippers. Stephen Curry has already been ruled out, and today will mark the first Dennis Schroder game as a Warrior without Curry. Will his usage turn back to his Brooklyn days? Continuing on these 3 games, Cam Whitmore continues to surprise every non-believer. The former Villanova Wildcat scored 27 points yesterday, and everyone should keep a close eye on the Rockets IR, specially Tari Eason and Dillon Brooks. Then, we’ve got the two highest O/U games of the slate – Grizzlies @ Pelicans at 237 and Cavaliers @ Nuggets at 235.5. Can the Grizzlies repeat their 155-point game? Well, the Pelicans rank 2nd-to-last in defensive rating, but statistical outliers don’t tend to repeat very often, specially on back-to-backs. Enough chit-chat, let’s get right into it!

Victor Wembanyama
Salary: $11,000
Position: C
Victor Wembanyama is averaging 29.1 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 5.2 apg and 4.7 bpg in December. His last game with a usage rate under 30% came on December 3rd, against the Suns, and he has a 34.8% usage over the past two weeks, ranking 3rd among the players who play today, trailing on Kevin Durant and the surprising Cole Anthony. He’s facing the Brooklyn Nets, who allow the best fg% to opposing Cs, have the league’s worst reb% and allow the 3rd most blocks per game. The usage has been there and the efficiency should be provided by the lackluster Nets defense. In four out of the past five games, Brook Lopez, Bam Adebayo, Walker Kessler, Bobby Portis, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley shot a combined 37-56 against them (the fifth game was against the Raptors, who, without their true interior presence Jakob Poeltl, struggled against the Nets).
