There are three games on the menu for the Sunday afternoon slate. The pitching matchups are intriguing, but a little bit unpredictable as we have Alek Manoah and Mitch Keller starting with no idea which version of those guys we are going to get. Tyler Anderson gets his second start in a row since moving back into the rotation and Houston continues their series in Oakland after a surprising loss on Saturday.
This is for the 7/23 1:07 PM PST classic slate on Draftkings.
DFS Pillar Plays
Tyler Anderson
Position: P
Salary: $7,200
Anderson just moved back into the Angels’ rotation in his last outing. His last two games came against the Dodgers and the Astros, which are not the easiest matchups. The Pirates should prove much more manageable for the herky-jerky lefty. Anderson had to work hard against Houston, lasting only three innings on 85 pitches. Despite his heavy workload, he only gave up one run to the Angels’ division rivals. He’ll be at home against a team that has the fifth highest strikeout total over the last week.
Kyle Tucker
Position: OF
Salary: $6,200
Tucker has been sensational in July and in the most recent series for the Astros. Tucker is actually hitting better away from H-Town with a .335 road batting average. His July batting average is sitting at .391 and in the second game of this series in Oakland, Tucker hit three home runs in a single game. He’s currently on an eight game hitting streak and is going up against a right-handed starter in Luis Medina.
Mickey Moniak
Position: OF
Salary: $4,700
The former number one overall pick has had a stellar July for the Angels, who were in desperate need of some offensive production with Mike Trout going on the IL. He has gotten a hit in 11 straight games and has accumulated 20 hits in 14 July games. Mitch Keller starts for the Pirates and, unfortunately, it seems a long way away from when his name was being mentioned as a potential Cy Young candidate. Keller gave up eight runs on 10 hits in his last start, which came against the Guardians.
DFS Value Plays (<$3200 Salary)
Mike Moustakas
Position: 1B/3B
Salary: $2,800
As mentioned, Mitch Keller has been having a rough go of it. Moustakas has big power potential and is a left-handed bat going against the right-handed starter. Moustakas has been serviceable since his arrival in Anaheim and he has registered a hit in eight out of his last nine games. He has four home runs over that stretch and will be batting fifth in the order today.
Eugenio Suarez
Position: 3B
Salary: $3,200
Suarez had a big week, including a stretch of three straight games with a home run. He put together seven hits in the last seven days, all at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The home stretch continues against Alek Manoah, who struggled to get out of three innings in his last start. We’ll see what the big fella is able to do today, but Suarez and the Mariners have the potential to add to Manoah’s rough year.
