There is one game in particular tonight that will be a very popular play among DFS players. That game is the Angels on the road in Coors Field. The run total is sitting at a whopping 11.5. Elsewhere in the league, we get to see the return of Kenta Maeda, after almost two months on the IL. The pitching options for tonight’s slate are volatile and that means you may not have to break the bank for your two starting pitchers. With eight hitters at $6,000 or over, that’s good news, as you can redistribute that salary to some of those big names.

Texas Rangers ML (-120) @ New York Yankees

This is a great price for a Rangers team that has scored the most runs in the league this year going against the Yankees, who might be at rock bottom, but also have room to sink a little lower after this series. The only Bronx Bombing that will be going on tonight will be coming from the Texas side.

Shohei Ohtani to hit a Home Run (+300)

Ohtani leads the league in home runs with 24. Mike Trout’s home run odds are at +225 and Hunter Renfroe’s are at an astonishingly low +200. With Ohtani’s odds sitting at 3rd lowest on this Angels team to hit a home run, I will take that value in what should be a warm night in the Rocky Mountains.

DFS Pillar Plays

Shane Bieber

Position: P

Salary: $9,400

The splits for Shane Bieber are pretty telling. His ERA at home is sitting at 1.90 with a .209 BAA, while his road ERA is 4.58 with a .276 BAA. The Brewers start a series in Cleveland tonight, and Milwaukee has struck out the third most amount of times in the last 30 days. Over the season, Milwaukee ranks in the bottom five for runs scored.

Taylor Ward

Position: OF

Salary: $4,400 

Everybody will be playing one of Shohei Ohtani ($6,700) or Mike Trout ($6,500). I will have one of those two in my lineup. You can’t really play both given their high price, so I will be looking towards Taylor Ward, who is a right-handed bat going against left-handed Kyle Freeland. Ward has had a pretty decent June, getting 17 hits in 16 games. This is mostly about the matchup and the location. Ward is +400 to hit a home run tonight. 

Manny Machado

Position: 3B

Salary: $5,300

The Padres start a home stand against the Washington Nationals tonight. San Diego is fresh off a 10-0 beatdown over one of the hottest teams in the league in the San Francisco Giants. The troubled Patrick Corbin starts for Washington so I will be targeting some Padres hitters. Machado has had a nice stretch over the last few weeks. In the last 15 games, Manny has 20 hits, with seven of them going for extra bases with 13 RBIs as well.

DFS Value Plays (<$3300 Salary)

Ezequiel Tovar

Position: SS

Salary: $3,200

Patrick Sandoval starts for the Angels and has only had one good game, which came against the lowly Royals. This high run total suggests the Rockies will get a few runs of their own. Colorado ranks in the top 10 when it comes to runs scored at home. Tovar is hitting .300 over the last 10 games and is currently on a six game hit streak. 

Leody Taveras

Position: OF

Salary: $3,300

The Rangers will be in Yankee Stadium tonight and Clarke Schmidt will start for the Yankees. Taveras is a switch hitter, and with right-handed Schmidt on the mound, Taveras will be hitting towards that short porch in right field. Schmidt has been inconsistent this year and the Yankees are just not very good at the moment. Taveras has three home runs in the last nine games. 

Jared Walsh

Position: 1B

Salary: $3,000

Jared Walsh should not be priced this high, but is getting the Coors tax tonight. Pretty much every Angels hitter has an inflated price, with someone like Mickey Moniak sitting at $4,300. This is one to watch as last time the Angels came up against a lefty, right-handed Kevin Padlo ($2,400) got the start at first base. Whoever is at first base for the Angels will be a part of my Angels stack for tonight’s slate.
