How’d We Get Here?
The Jazz were hoping that the acquisitions of Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic would punch up the offense and loft them into the true contender tier, but the results were mixed. Conley really struggled during the regular season amid injuries but looked more like himself in the bubble. Bogdanovic was a godsend, changing Utah’s offense exactly as they hoped he would, but missed the resumption due to wrist surgery. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy “Accidental Hero” Gobert put their rocky relationship on the back burner after Gobert’s idiocy led to the NBA shutting down, with Mitchell looking like a true superstar in the playoffs. The Jazz were never able to get everyone clicking at once last season but still looked like a damn good team anyway.
The offseason was a quiet one, with the Jazz spending to keep Jordan Clarkson on board and welcoming Derrick Favors back into the fold to beef up the frontcourt. Utah never really saw what they had against top competition last season, so they’ll be hoping for some good fortune to find out what changes this group actually needs.
