How’d We Get Here?

After getting Kawhi’d in the playoffs, Philly decided to retool. The Sixers let Jimmy Butler and JJ Redick walk so they could dump tons of money on Tobias Harris (reasonable, except they turned him into a spot-up shooter) and Al Horford (also reasonable considering how he locked up Joel Embiid in the playoffs previously, except he and Embiid don’t fit together at all). Ben Simmons teased shooting threes but didn’t actually do anything different, and finally got moved to power forward — which took even more away from Harris. The Sixers were great at home but looked like absolute junk on the road and never really meshed, culminating in an ugly sweep at the hands of the Celtics after Simmons needed knee surgery. Jamming together random talented players didn’t work and everyone looked tired of everything by the end of the season. Brett Brown got the boot and Doc Rivers will take over. Shake Milton looked good, at least?

The Process is dead. Long live The Process. Haha… unless?

Daryl Morey made his way to Philly and it paid immediate dividends, with the Sixers dumping bad money and picking up some much-needed help with perimeter defense, floor-spacing and playmaking while also grabbing some nice value picks in the draft.
