Last week, the report provided analysis on some college basketball players that are currently considered top prospects for this summer’s NBA draft based on their season performances and perceived upside.  I hope the analysis, albeit very brief, was valuable enough to our readers to garner some interest and followers for future editions of the report throughout the entire NCAA tournament.

The purpose of this week’s edition of the Prospect Report is to highlight some of the teams in this year’s NCAA Tournament that roster players with NBA draft potential.  With that goal in mind, let me temper your expectations by stating that there are simply too many teams and too many prospects to cover them all without writing a short novel.

I have decided the best way to do this is to go down through the bracket and pick out one out of the four teams for each seed (1-16), focusing on the team to watch with the most NBA prospects.  In other words, I will pick one 1 seed, one 2 seed, one 3 seed, and so on.

1 Seed – Kansas

As a former University of Kansas student, I may be a little biased with this pick (Editor’s Note: Kansas sucks John).  However, Kansas enters the tournament as the number one overall team and Vegas’ favored team to win the entire tournament (Editor’s Note: I immediately take that back).  If things work out for the Jayhawks, viewers should have plenty of opportunities to check out these potential future NBA players.

Players to watch:  Perry Ellis (PF, Senior), Wayne Selden Jr. (SG/SG, Junior), Cheick Diallo (PF/C, Freshman)

Diallo came in to this season with a lot of hype as a top-10 recruit, but failed to find consistent minutes in a deep rotation.  While tournament viewers may not get to watch Diallo very much this March, some sources are still projecting him as a first round pick for his athleticism and upside.  Fantasy owners will want to wait until Diallo makes a decision on whether he will enter the draft or not before doing any advanced scouting for his NBA upside.

Ellis and Selden will be heavily featured in the Kansas offense, but only project as second round picks.  Selden may even choose to stay at Kansas another year if his draft outlook doesn’t appear too promising.  One look at the below video and fantasy players can only hope to see Selden on an NBA roster in the near future:
