• The Sacramento Kings managed a great come back in the fourth quarter but were unable to capitalize on their opportunity in overtime, ultimately losing to the Miami Heat 108-96.

Sacramento struggled to score much throughout the game, shooting 38.2% overall, and eclipsing 25 points in a quarter just once.  While Sacramento seemed to have the momentum heading into overtime, they mustered just 5 points, allowing Miami to go on an 11-0 run and ultimately take home the win.

Here are some notes from the game:

    • Sacramento has struggled to find much offense outside of Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins early in the season, and tonight was no exception. This may prove to be more of a short term concern, with Darren Collison due to come back in just three games, but it is worth monitoring.  Both players are very talented offensively, but the team will want to find other players that can take over when they aren’t on the floor.
    • Arron Afflalo had his best game so far this season, scoring 18 points in 42 minutes of action.  Afflalo is one of the better isolation scorers on the roster, so the Kings should be happy to see him get his offense going in this game.
    • Cousins got himself into foul trouble again tonight, eventually leaving the game with 6 fouls late in the fourth quarter.  The team will need him to stay on the floor as much as possible, so it will be interesting to see if any adjustments are made going forward to try and keep his foul totals down.
    • Ty Lawson struggled again with his shot, going 1/5 on his attempts.  Lawson has shown flashes of good play, but his inability to score has been concerning.  It’s still very early in the season, but it doesn’t look like Lawson has done nearly enough to challenge Darren Collison for the starting point guard spot when he returns.

Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins both had great nights scoring 30 points apiece, but it wasn’t enough as the Kings were ultimately unable to generate much offense beyond those two.  The Kings will now look to bounce back against the Magic in Orlando on Thursday night.

I think when Collison comes back, he should come off the bench. The second unit looks pretty decent most of the time, but they could use a go-to scorer. Plus, Ty has look very comfortable with the starting unit.
