• Jusuf Nurkic scored a career-high 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting with nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the Nuggets’ 102-98 win over the Spurs on Friday.

Nurkic started next to Nikola Jokic and against the Spurs’ second unit it worked tonight, or at least as well as it can work in theory.  The duo isn’t going to be able to play next to each other long-term, but the Nuggets are doing the right thing in finding out for a fact if that’s the case.

Jokic added eight points, a career-high 15 boards, four assists, one steal and one block in a much-needed big outing, and the Nuggets are hoping that Darrell Arthur (personal, knee) can come back and that’s probably to keep the minutes down for these two. Kenneth Faried’s back injury makes him an unappealing play from the Nuggets’ point of view.  Joffrey Lauvergne (eight points, five boards, three assists, one block, 15 minutes) has not been able to capitalize on his opportunity lately but has a puncher’s chance at value if Faried and Arthur stay out.
