Gordon Hayward scored 31 points on 9-of-20 shooting (3-of-9 3PTs, 10-of-11 FTs) with seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in the Jazz’s 98-93 Game 6 loss to the Clippers on Friday.
Hayward made some key plays late and the Jazz should have found a way to call timeout late and get him involved, but instead they opted to let Joe Johnson (nine points, three boards, three assists, 34 minutes) try and fix a three-point deficit in the final possession. Hayward was a part of the stagnancy that killed them offensively down the stretch and he’ll need to find a way to take better control of the offense if he’s going to take the proverbial step forward among the NBA’s best.Â
