Kemba Walker was doubtful prior to Monday’s blowout win over the Pistons due to an illness, but he played through it and scored 14 points on 3-of-9 shooting (1-of-3 from deep, 7-of-8 from the line) with a season-high nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 25 minutes.
Luckily for Walker the Hornets got up big and they didn’t need him as much. He said prior to the game that he had no idea who was behind the ‘doubtful’ tag because he intended to play the whole time, and that type of overzealous injury reporting from the Hornets is something to footnote going forward. Nicolas Batum nearly triple-doubled with 13 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two treys as his contract year cash-in continues, and Marvin Williams kept his foot on the gas with 14 and 12 to go with two treys and 6-of-8 makes from the field. Jeremy Lin saw an uptick in production and hit 5-of-10 shots for 13 points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals and one three in 26 minutes.
