After twisting his right ankle on Monday against the Sixers, Emmanuel Mudiay is expected to play tonight when the Knicks face the Wizards.
His right ankle bears watching as it has been a career-long issue. His year playing in China ended prematurely with the same injury and he has missed time in all three of his NBA seasons with sprains, all to his right ankle. Mudiay is expected to come off the bench on Wednesday but that should change after the All-Star break, as Jeff Hornacek has indicated he may replace veteran Jarrett Jack as starter. He had 14 points and 10 assists in 30 minutes of action on Sunday, but he leveled off against the Sixers on Monday with seven points and two assists in just 19 minutes. It remains to be seen what kind of value he will have moving forward in a crowded backcourt where Frank Ntilikina and Trey Burke are also guaranteed to get plenty of minutes.
