Wolves G/F Shabazz Muhammad is reportedly wanting out of Minnesota ahead of the February 8 trade deadline according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Muhammad has fallen out of the rotation and his representatives, who met with the Wolves’ front office, has requested he either be traded or released within the next week. Muhammad has played in just 31 games this season, averaging 9.6 minutes per game. He’ll be a free agent in July after singing a one-year deal with the Wolves this past offseason, but things just haven’t panned out as both sides hoped. As of now, he’s not worth owning in any format but a move elsewhere could open up playing time and give him an opportunity to produce.
Shabazz Muhammad would lose his bird rights if traded based on the 1 year bird restriction. The acquiring team would have to sign him with cap space or one of their exceptions as a FA this summer.
