Norman Powell scored 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting (including two threes) with three rebounds and two steals in 14 minutes off the bench in Saturday’s Game 4 loss.
Dwane Casey is staking his job on DeMar DeRozan’s disappearing act in the playoffs and Powell is just sitting there as an option for an additional 10-15 mpg. DeRozan continues to take bad shots and hit just 4-of-15 of them today — a situation that gets exasperated by the defense of Paul George — and Casey needs to get control of his guards so options like Jonas Valanciunas (16 points, 6-of-7 FGs, six boards, one block) don’t get ignored. DeMarre Carroll scored 12 points with six boards in 32 minutes and he’s not a great DFS option, but he’s putting up low-end numbers and getting big minutes.
