The Grizzlies wound up holding Tyreke Evans through the trade deadline on Thursday and will now shift their focus to re-signing him in free agency.
Evans was perhaps the most talked about player heading into Thursday but nobody was willing to part with a first-rounder in any trade. The Grizz had several offers centered around second-round picks and younger players but they ultimately felt that Evans’ contributions the rest of the way were worth more than that. It’s a dream scenario for fantasy owners, as Tyreke is going to get all the work he can handle for the rest of the season. It’s been a resurgent year for the former ROY, who will pretty easily go down as fantasy’s top waiver add this season. Owners who did sell high shouldn’t feel too bad, however, as it’s a pretty big surprise that the Grizzlies didn’t cave for any futures. Sometimes things just don’t bounce your way.
