The Knicks have waived Johnny O’Bryant after acquiring him from the Hornets in the Willy Hernangomez trade.
O’Bryant was an expiring contract so this was an expected move and the Knicks can get his contract off the books. The 24-year-old will hope to latch onto a bench somewhere or possibly go to the G-League. He averaged 4.8 points in 10.6 minutes per game on 39.8 percent from the field. Kyle O’Quinn is worth a flier pickup since he has the backup center role all to himself and could see some time at power forward with Kristaps Porzingis (torn ACL) out for the year.Â
