Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reports that the “Jarrett Jack era appears to be over,” as the Knicks will look to increase the playing time of Frank Ntilikina, Emmanuel Mudiay and Trey Burke after the All-Star break.
One of the organization’s big goals is to make sure Ntilikina gets time at point guard, as he’s been playing off the ball a bit more lately. The problem lies in the fact that the Knicks have two shooting guard types who are very deserving of minutes in Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr., so someone will eventually be dealt a bad hand. They could also clear things up by not bothering with Burke, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. While we’ll have to wait until after the break to see whether Mudiay or Ntilikina starts, the Knicks will be reworking their rotation in the practices that lead up to their return to action. It’s also believed that the two will play side-by-side at times. Ntilikina and Mudiay are the speculative adds here, with the rookie looking good for steals and Mudiay the preference if you’re looking for scoring. Jack can be set loose in just about all formats.
