Willy Hernangomez played 28 minutes off the bench for the Knicks on Saturday, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
A month ago head coach Jeff Hornacek hinted at the possibility of Hernangomez getting more minutes, and it appears that might finally be happening. Starting center Joakim Noah remained ineffective in his 11 minutes of playing time, while Kyle O’Quinn did not score or rebound in his seven minutes off the bench. Hernangomez has received 20 or more minutes in three of the last four games for the Knicks and could be on the verge of becoming a regular with how little production the Knicks have gotten from their center position. Now is the time to grab the rookie big man with hope those minutes continue to come.
