Thon Maker played just 13 minutes on Thursday but made the most of them, collecting five blocks while adding two points and two boards.
Maker came out on fire, rejecting two of Toronto’s first three looks at the rim. It’s actually puzzling that he didn’t play more, as he would’ve seriously helped stifle DeMar DeRozan at the rim in this one. Still, it was a promising first year for the rookie who entered the league amidst all kind of talk about whether he’d evolve past the Project stage of his development. He shut those people up pretty quick, getting valuable development time as a starter. He’s going to be very good someday soon.
