Rajon Rondo will reportedly opt out of his contract with the Lakers and become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Rondo was exceptional throughout the Lakers' championship run, so he's likely looking to cash in on that performance and sign a more lucrative contract. He signed with the team on the vet minimum and it would be surprising if he didn't receive a better offer in free agency. The Lakers could offer him up to six million per season using the Mid-Level Exception, but with a relative dearth of star free agents this offseason, Rondo may find himself as one of the hottest players on the market.
