In an expected move, the Raptors will insert Jonas Valanciunas back into the starting five for Monday’s Game 1 against the Cavs.
Valanciunas was exposed by the quickness and length of Milwaukee’s starters but found a home matched up with Greg Monroe. If the Raptors chose to start Norman Powell to keep the good times rolling, it would’ve been very hard to use JV against Channing Frye/Kevin Love frontcourt units. He’ll be counted on to slow Tristan Thompson down on the glass. It was also thought that they might swap DeMarre Carroll and P.J. Tucker in the rotation, but inertia wins out. Tucker will play more minutes than Carroll regardless of role.
