Patrick Beverley scored 12 points in Wednesday’s 121-96 loss to the Spurs, chipping in two boards, three assists, one steal and one triple.
It was a quiet night statistically for Beverly, and while he usually makes up for his lack of scoring and assists with killer defense the Spurs rolled tonight. He continues to completely ignore Tony Parker off the ball, free lancing into the paint to disrupt LaMarcus Aldridge or throw an extra body at Kawhi Leonard. That strategy paid off in Game 1, but the Spurs were able to overcome Beverly’s pesky routine behind Leonard’s transcendent play tonight. Tony Parker left with an injured knee in the fourth quarter of this one, and if he misses Game 3 it will be interesting to see how Beverly deals with Patty Mills shooting on Friday.
