Magic Johnson said on ESPN that he would, “prefer a veteran point guard to back-up and mentor Lonzo Ball.”

Jordan Clarkson is the only other point guard on the roster who is currently under contract for 2017-2018. Being only 25-years-old may not qualify him as the veteran that Magic wants and he is more of a two guard anyway. This could be bad news for Tyler Ennis who played well after being acquired at the trade deadline last season. If the Lakers add a veteran free agent and retain Ennis he will not have access to minutes aside from blowouts. The Lakers have been reported to have interest in  free agents Rodney Stuckey and Ian Clark.
