Josh Smith, who was signed by the Pelicans via their hardship exception, is doubtful to make his debut on Thursday.
Smith took his game to China after failing to gain interest from NBA teams last season. At 32 years of age, the forward will fill in the gaps left by the Pelicans’ various injured players. There is little reason to grab him outside of the deepest leagues. Managers can take a “wait and see” approach with him for now.
