Joel Embiid held his own against Hassan Whiteside on Monday, finishing with 22 points to go along with five rebounds, one steal and three blocks on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line while also turning the ball over just one time.
The turnovers have been a problem for Embiid to start the season, but he was able to control the ball more in this one. He’s having a breakout year and it would be a shocking surprise to not have him as the front runner for rookie of the year. On the season Embiid has been returning top-65 value, but over his last three games he’s lingered with top-50 value. Those who took the risk on him on draft day must be feeling pretty good about themselves right now.Â
