The Hawks will start Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Taurean Prince, Ersan Ilyasova and Dewayne Dedmon in the opener against the Mavs.
Not a ton of surprise here, but this lineup could look drastically different by season’s end. The Hawks are in rebuild mode and will see a lot of L’s this season. Schroder has already proven his worth and his value as a top-100 per game asset and his usage should increase after Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard’s departures. Bazemore has proven inconsistent thus far in his NBA career and is no lock to finish the season as a starter, but should see 30+ minutes for a while. Prince is young, plays defense (that means lots of minutes) and could be a league leader in steals this season. Ilyasova’s age makes him expendable when the Hawks want to see their younger players develop, but until then should see 25-30 minutes a night. Â Dedmon is an unproven, hustle player who will see minutes and last season ranked top-80 per 36 minutes, but its a risk as to whether he can sustain those numbers playing 36 “real” minutes.Â
