The Kings have reportedly signed Jamel Artis to a two-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi.

Artis, a 6-foot-7 forward, will compete for a roster spot during training camp. The team needs depth at small forward and someone like Artis could be a logical fit.

The 25-year-old spent time with the Orlando Magic last season, playing in 15 games with averages of 5.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 18.6 minutes. He shot 39.2 percent from the field and 27.6 percent from three.

Additionally, Artis appeared in 46 games for the Magic’s G-League team. He posted averages of 19.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 37.6 minutes per game, shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 34.0 percent from three. Artis obviously struggled a bit during his limited time in the NBA last season, but his production down in the G-League is promising and could be why the Kings are giving him a shot.

The Kings also have on open two-way spot left after signing Wenyen Gabriel, so the team could choose to go that route if Artis impresses.
