• Following a tough overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers, the Sacramento Kings will try and get back on track Saturday night against the Charlotte Hornets.  Charlotte had some lofty expectations heading into the season, but some recent struggles have pushed them below .500.

Sacramento struggled on their recent homestand, but strong wins against the Pistons and Cavaliers appeared to give them the momentum they needed to make it through the rest of the road trip. The team played well in Indiana, but losing in overtime can be a tough blow either way.

The Hornets are coming off their third straight loss, and will need to find a way to get ack on track soon before they find themselves too low in the standings.  Charlotte is currently seventh in the east, but teams like the Pistons, Bucks and Knicks are all looking for a way into the postseason.

Here are some notes heading into the matchup:

    • Charlotte is fairly strong on the perimeter, but they don’t have much depth at power forward or center.  The team probably doesn’t have anyone that can matchup with DeMarcus Cousins in the post, so Sacramento will want to get him the ball down low early and often.
    • Kemba Walker is one of the top point guards in the NBA, and the Kings will need to find a way to contain him in order to win the game.  Garrett Temple will likely find himself guarding Walker fairly often, but the Kings will need to find other ways to slow him down.  Willie Cauley-Stein could be a huge boost with his ability to contain and switch, so it may be worth finding him some extra time on the floor.
    • Charlotte has struggled offensively without Walker on the floor, so Sacramento’s strong bench play could end up being the difference tonight. The King’s bench has won them a few games this season, and should be a point of emphasis tonight as well.

The Kings have been playing much better basketball recently, and with the team currently in the process of playing four games in five nights, a game against a struggling Hornets team should give them a good chance to end up with the win.
